The dedicated server that you are buying from Net Access Corporation is connected to the public internet. Anyone in the world can send information to, and request information from your machine.
NAC meters the traffic passing to and from your machine at the physical ethernet port that your machine connects to. Unless otherwise arranged, even traffic passing between two 15 Minute Servers will be counted as bandwidth used.
When you exceed your traffic allotment as specified in the server options, you will be charged at the rate of $0.50 per gigabyte, billed monthly. There are no exceptions to this.
It is important to realize that we will only bill you for the maximum of the 'in' or 'out', not the sum of the two. Another words, if your server 'pushes' 1,400 GB to the world, and 'pulls' 500 GB from the world, only 1,400 GB is applicable to billing.
It is also important to realize how much traffic can be moved through an ethernet port in the course of a month. For a 10 megabit per second port, roughly 3,000 GB can be moved, and for a 100 megabit per second port, 30,000 GB can be moved.
Generally speaking, unless otherwise noted, we will assign you a 10 megabit per second port. This is for both the protection of you and NAC. If you feel that you need a 100 megabit per second port, there is an extra fee involved, and we also require you to give us justification as to why a high speed port is needed. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
IMPORTANT: NO MATTER WHAT PORT SPEED YOU CHOOSE, YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR TRAFFIC THAT PASSES THROUGH YOUR PORT. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. THERE IS AN INHERENT RISK IN HAVING ANY DEVICE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET, AND THIS RISK IS ENTIRELY YOURS. BY CONTINUING WITH THIS ORDER, YOU AGREE THAT YOU ACCEPT THIS RISK, AND THAT YOU WILL PAY FOR ANY USAGE CHARGES.
FURTHER, NAC WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUES THAT MAY ARISE (SUCH AS A SECURITY BREACH OF YOUR SERVER) THAT MAY CAUSE YOUR SERVER TO SEND TRAFFIC WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN YOUR SERVER IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT IS SECURE AND UNDER YOUR CONTROL.
